An Albany woman who charged she was forced out of her Assembly staff job when she had a baby agreed to settle her lawsuit against Assemblywoman Aurelia Greene for $95,000.
Mary A. Helou, who now works for the Albany Police Department, filed an $11 million legal action in March 1998, alleging she was discriminated against by the Bronx Democrat and fired because Greene did not want to accommodate a staffer who might need time off to take care of a newborn.
The agreement, approved Monday by U.S. District Judge Lawrence E. Kahn, stipulates that Helou be paid $12,000 for lost earnings and $53,000 in damages. Of that, …
